I brought Steve an artwork that was very difficult to photograph and he did a fantastic job with it. The piece is a 14' x 4' drawing on plywood in two pieces, and consists of very delicate graphite lines on a wood-grained background. Steve lit the piece and shot it impeccably, pieced together the two sections in photoshop, painstakingly removed screw holes and other blemishes digitally, and retouched it just enough to make the image read while not altering the character of the original work. The final version developed over several rounds of emails, revisions, and new versions, and I greatly appreciated Steve's generosity, creativity, and willingness to spend the time to get things right, through the whole process." -Gina Siepel, artist 2010

Steve is technically very talented as a photographer, of course, but just as important, he's very, very easy to work with. I gave him an almost impossible deadline, yet he found me a great selection of professional models  to choose from who were available that soon. Most importantly, he allowed me to "art direct" the shots he took of my clothing line down to every detail. This was truly the most pleasant day at a photo shoot I'd ever spent, and the end results are fantastic!" -Suzanne Gentes SUZKNITS

Regarding Steve Gyurina: For more than 12 years now, Steve Gyurina has been traveling to the Felos Memorial Art Center in Stoughton, MA every few months to take slides and digital images of our collective artworks. We artists have had our works documented, have been accepted into many regional and national juried shows, and have won numerous awards with the superb quality that Steve consistently provides. As many as 20 artists from surrounding towns, studios and art centers gather here on "Monday slide shoot day" to have their recent artworks photographed, have coffee, and catch up with art/news. We  find Steve to be cheerful and fun, conscientious and dedicated - and above all, very professional. -Beverly Rippel, artist and shoot coordinator, South Easton, MA

To Whom it may concern I am writing this letter in reference to Steve Gyurina who has photographed my work for the past few years and I recommend his services without reservation for the following reasons:

Steve has excellent people skills. He is warm, easy to work with and is attentive to the needs and viewpoints of his clients. He is reliable, a perfectionist in the most dedicated and professional way and works collaboratively with his client, often going well beyond the ordinary to insure customer satisfaction.

As an artist, Steve has well established skills. He has a good eye for composition and creative studio lighting which are imperative for my layered 3-dimensional sculptures, vessels and collages. My work is very difficult for any photographer to photograph. Steve is inventive in his lighting techniques, lighting each piece from a variety of different perspectives rather than settling for one simple standard approach. His sensitivity towards capturing not only the color, detail and form but the emotional essence of my work is what makes his photography so special. I plan to recommend him to my colleges and students at the Decordova Museum School. Steve's photography is equally appropriate for advertisement, fashion and crafts applications as it is for fine art slides. You will not be disappointed. -Sincerely, Sally Santosuosso

Steve Gyurina has been photographing my art work for many years. Both because I sell reproductions of my paintings and license the images, the 4x5 transparencies Steve creates are an indispensable part of my artistic process. The extremely wide range of color and light reflectivity in my paintings, and the tiny details contained in large compositions, present a photographic challenge, which Steve always meets with magnificent results.

Steve is honest and reliable and working with him is a pleasure.  He is a perfectionist whose work is not finished until the artist is entirely satisfied. He is also an innovator, always looking for new technology, equipment and techniques to improve the quality and scope of his work. In short, each time I leave my art in Steve Gyurina's studio, I know that I will soon be receiving crisp, accurate, rich and vibrant photographic images of them" - Michael Bogdanow

I recently had Steve Gyurina shoot several of my lamp-worked glass beads for a craft publication.  Steve's lighting was immaculate.  He was able to capture each bead's vibrant color and rich transparency, and the final slide images gave me just the edge I needed to be selected for Lark Book's 2004 publication: "500 Beads".  Without a doubt, Steve Gyurina, understands the art of small product photography."-Maryjane Michaud, Artglass Beads & Jewelry

Comments on my Giclée Printing Services

I been looking at the print of Palmetto Blue and I couldn’t be happier with it.  Thank you so much for the exceptional printmaking" - Robert Bendt

"Steve, I got the most recent full-sized proof. You nailed it. It looks terrific. It was worth the wait. As far as i'm concerned you can make the prints. Thanks for your effort and great work. Congrats" --Dean Morrissey.

"Excellent!" - Ann Christensen, when picking up large 30x40 canvas print

Steve is a Master when it comes to transposing paintings to Giclee prints. He has developed a unique color matching method that is so precise you can post the finished print next to the painting and they are a dead match. He is a wizard at capturing brush strokes and impasto effects or the subtle changes in skin tones. Working with Steve is collaborative, intense and produces a great result. -Betsyann Duval

Steve Gyurina’s Giclee prints are truly outstanding. It is often difficult for me to tell the Giclee from the original. As an artist, it is important that the reproduction faithfully replicate the original painting. With Steve’s unsurpassed skill and attention to detail, each of my reproductions truly mimics the original painting. As a pastel painter, it is difficult to reproduce the luminescent quality of a pastel painting. It is important that the Giclee of a pastel looks like a pastel and not a watercolor or oil painting. Steve’s reproductions unquestionably satisfy that important requirement as a result of his trained eye and understanding of his clients’ needs.

Because I work in pastel, the care and handling of each piece is important. The care and handling of the original artwork as well as the finished prints is superior to any photographer or printer that I have ever worked with. My clients have been very satisfied with the quality of my Giclee reproductions. I wouldn’t work with anyone else! -Bob Frascella
